AASTA Planetarium

In collaboration with Columbia Basin College (CBC), AASTA is developing plans for a fully equipped, modern planetarium facility to be located on the CBC campus in Pasco, very likely nearby the existing Moore Observatory.  Below is a conceptual diagram of how such a facility might appear.

Below is a cutaway view of the facility, with the roof removed.  The auditorium would be located within the hemispherical dome structure in the center of the building.  The planetarium facility will include a lobby/exhibition area (in front of the auditorium), a small classroom, and staff offices offices and other support entities.

Locating the planetarium near the Moore Observatory will create a destination area on campus in which astronomy and the space sciences can be featured and explored.
